Thought I would drop a few lines about what I am about..
'BREEDING'
I was born 1970 in the United Kingdom and now live in Brisbane, Australia. After a roller coaster life in the British Army for 20 years I have travelled the world extensively mostly due to the worst aspect of human nature 'WAR'...oh yes I spent fun times in Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Kosovo, Falkland Islands and Afghanistan...
'AUSSIE ARMY'
Anyway I was recruited by the Australian Army to share some tricks of the trade and lessons learnt. In return I was given citizenship and a fantastic lifestyle living in Queensland.
'CIVI LIFE'
After one last trip to Afghanistan with the Australian Army I decided to move on in my life and see what it is like to be able to enjoy the world around me at a steady pace for a change.
I have been married more than once....:) and have four children. These are an inspiration to me and I believe I learn more from them than I can ever pass back.
'JAMES FIXX'
Found his book around 1989.. got me into running, which led to joining the army which eventually led to the Marathon. I loved reading about the Boston Marathon. ONE DAY!
'MOTIVATION'
I met my partner in 2011 and she showed me the way back to enjoying the beauty of life around me and reintroduced me to the Marathon circuit. She is such a good motivator and I love every moment that she is with me. I have four children and a grand child. These are an inspiration to me and I believe I learn more from them than I can ever pass back. This brings us to this blog.
I decided to take a long term challenge and that is to run a Marathon in each state and territory of Australia (throwing in New Zealand for good measure). As a side dish I am also attempting the World Majors.
'THE CRAMPS'
In 2008 I decided to run a marathon after watching so many run the London. I didn't really have a plan just ran a lot... as hard as I could... the army way! anyway I went on to do the Berlin Marathon which was amazing,I really enjoyed it until about 21/22 Miles then started getting nasty spasms in my legs. Finished the Marathon in 4hrs and was knackered...
In 2009 I was determined to do a Marathon without getting the cramps. Well I trained to a 16 week plan... and got the cramps at mile 18 this time and could barely run.
At that time work took over and my runs dwindled to 3 mile army runs. I truly believed that the Marathon had beaten me.
I have learnt a lot about the cramps and believe a lot is to do with being to hasty on the pace at the beginning of the marathon, nutrition and miles covered in training. I have decided to start running marathons for the fun of it rather than for time until I crack this.
The outline plan is to build a cardio base and take it from there. It may take a few years but the ball is now rolling. See if I can keep this blog up!
So there you go..... OZ Marathon challenge and beating cramps....thats what I am up to.
